1.
Why destroy documentation?

Whether it's strictly confidential documentation that you want to ensure doesn't fall into the wrong hands, archival material that has exceeded its legal retention period, or paper documentation accumulated during your business operations, the safest, and often simplest, way is to destroy it. Besides ensuring that there won't be any data leaks, GDPR violations, and other laws related to personal and confidential data, freeing up space and saving time are just some of the benefits.

2.
Why hire a document destruction company instead of doing it yourself?

While there is always a wide selection of office shredders available, if you're dealing with a volume of documentation greater than 1 or 2 binders, self-destruction becomes a tedious and time-consuming task that consumes a lot of time and nerves. Office shredders begin to overheat, break down, and destroy documentation slowly, even with just a few binders. Each sheet of paper needs to be cleaned of staples, paper clips, plastic, and metal parts, significantly prolonging the destruction process. If an 'uncleaned sheet of paper' is fed into the office shredder, it can cause a breakdown, thereby significantly increasing the costs of self-destruction.

Office shredders, besides not being a practical solution, are also not the best solution from a security perspective, as most shred each sheet of paper into equal strips that can be easily reassembled.

All of these problems disappear when handing over the documentation to a document destruction company.

3.
How to choose a company for document destruction?

When you've decided to entrust document destruction to professionals, it's important to choose a company that you can be confident will do the job satisfactorily, prioritizing the security of your data and documentation.

When selecting a company to destroy your documentation, be sure to check the following:

  • Does the company possess a valid Waste Management Permit
  • Does the company possess ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 security certificates for document destruction activities
  • Does the company offer the possibility of your supervision during the destruction of documentation
  • Does the company issue a Waste Accompanying Document (WAD) upon taking over your documentation
  • Does the company issue a Destruction Certificate compliant with the requirements of the Croatian State Archives after the destruction is completed

Considering that paper document destruction is a new and rapidly growing industry in this area, many companies are emerging claiming to specialize in this activity, even though they lack essential permits and certificates for carrying out such activities. Since GDPR has been in effect for several years and has been quite successfully implemented in the operations of most companies, it is important to keep in mind that (according to GDPR provisions) it is no longer sufficient to simply obtain a written confirmation that the documentation has been destroyed. Instead, you must truly ensure that the destruction has been carried out, that the company you have hired for destruction has the aforementioned permits and certificates, and only then should you receive a valid Destruction Certificate for your documentation.

Only then have you destroyed your documentation in a correct and secure manner!

4.
What is the price of document destruction service?

The price of the document destruction service is determined according to your needs and depends on many factors such as the quantity of documentation, the distance of the location, vehicle access, which vehicle is needed, etc. When sending a request for a quote, it is necessary to provide information about your company (name, address, and VAT number), specify the address where the documentation is located, and indicate the quantity of documentation you want to destroy (you can express the quantity in linear meters, cubic meters, number of binders, number and dimensions of boxes, etc.). After we have the requested information, we can create the best offer for you

5.
How is the documentation destroyed?

All acquired documentation is destroyed at our facility in Jastrebarsko using specialized machines of American manufacture, custom-made for this activity to provide maximum security during the document destruction process. The capacity is approximately 8 tons of documentation per hour, and all documentation is mechanically destroyed in accordance with all European regulations and DIN 66399 standard, using the cross-cut method, to security level P4.

6.
What is security level P4?

The European security standard for the destruction of all types of data media, DIN 66399, includes, among other things, the P standard, which is a category specifically intended for paper media, and classifies the destruction level into categories ranging from P-1 to P-7, depending on the dimension to which the documentation is destroyed. Although P-1 already meets satisfactory standards for document destruction, we provide destruction services up to level P-4 (where the maximum dimension after destruction is 160 mm^2), which satisfies the strictest security requirements of governmental institutions, as well as clients who seek to destroy documentation in the safest manner possible.
